DUA ("the app") is developed by Evolved Gorillas LLC. We built DUA so that it works without accounts and keeps as much as possible on your phone. This policy explains what little data the app handles, where it goes, and how you can stop it.
Data stored on your device only
Your settings (city, calculation method, madhab, username, avatar, gender), prayer statistics, XP, streaks, quiz results, Quran reading and listening positions, your Hijri date correction, your period calendar, and your AI chat history are stored locally on your device using the system's standard preference storage. There are no accounts. You can delete a chat in the app at any time, and deleting the app deletes all of this data.
AI assistant
Before the AI assistant is used for the first time, the app asks for your permission. Nothing is sent until you agree.
When you send a message, the text of your conversation and your username (if you entered one) are transmitted to a Cloudflare Worker we operate and forwarded to OpenAI to generate a response. The Worker exists so the OpenAI key is never shipped inside the app. We do not store your messages and we do not read them. OpenAI processes them under its API data policies.
A randomly generated device identifier is also sent with each request, only to enforce the daily limit of 20 messages. Our server keeps a message count for that identifier, which is deleted automatically after 48 hours. The identifier is created by the app; it is not your Apple ID or your device's hardware identifier.
Withdrawing consent: you can withdraw your permission at any time in the app under Profile → Support & Privacy → AI assistant. After that, nothing is sent until you agree again.
Location
If you allow location access, your coordinates are used on your device to find the nearest city, calculate prayer times, and point the Qibla compass. Your location is never sent to our servers.
Quran content
Quran text, translations, and audio recitations are streamed from third-party services (alquran.cloud and cdn.islamic.network). Like any internet request, these services receive your IP address when content is downloaded.
Nearby mosques
To find mosques, the app searches Apple Maps around the city you chose in the app (not your live GPS position). The search is handled by Apple under Apple's privacy policy. Directions open in the Apple Maps app.
Period calendar
The optional period calendar is stored only on your device. It is never sent to our servers, to OpenAI, or to the widget.
Feedback form
If you use the in-app feedback form, the name, email address, subject, and message you enter are delivered to us via Formspree so we can reply to you. The email address is required so that we can answer. Nothing is sent unless you submit the form.
Notifications
Prayer notifications are scheduled locally on your device, and the azans and tones you can choose between are bundled inside the app. No notification data leaves your device.
Timetable export
A monthly prayer timetable can be exported as a PDF. The file is generated on your device and goes wherever you send it. We never see it.
What we don't do
- No user accounts, no registration
- No advertising, no ad networks
- No analytics or tracking SDKs
- No sale of personal data, and no sharing with third parties except the services named in this policy (OpenAI for the AI assistant, with your permission; Formspree for the feedback form, when you submit it)
Children
The app collects no personal information from anyone, including children, except as described above. The AI assistant sends the text of a conversation and the username, if one was entered, to OpenAI, with permission, and is intended for users aged 13 and over; users under 18 should use it only with the permission of a parent or guardian.
Your choices and deletion
You can withdraw AI consent in the app at any time (see above), delete chats in the app, or delete the app to remove all data stored on your device. To ask us to delete anything you sent through the feedback form, or for any other privacy request, write to [email protected].
Changes
If this policy changes, the updated version will be published at this address with a new effective date.
