DUA brings prayer times, the Qibla, the full Quran and an assistant for religious questions into one calm, distraction-free experience, in seven languages. Designed and built end to end with privacy at the center.

What it does
One app for the whole day, rather than four:
- Prayer times — computed for the city you choose — or the one GPS finds — across 16 calculation methods used by authorities around the world.
- Notifications — a reminder up to 30 minutes before each prayer and an alert when it begins, with 17 sounds to choose from: seven azans and ten tones, each previewable in full before you pick it.
- The timetable — Standard or Hanafi Asr, a five- or three-prayer display, and a monthly table you can export as a PDF.
- Did you pray? — mark each prayer as prayed and earn points toward your streak.
- Widgets — small, medium and large home screen widgets with the next prayer, a live countdown and the day's times; the small one also works in StandBy.
- Period calendar — optional, for women. Logged days pause prayer reminders and the “Did you pray?” question, and the calendar stays on the phone.
- Qibla compass — a live true bearing to Mecca with the distance, and a rotating set of facts while you hold it.
- Nearby mosques — mosques around your chosen city, in a list or on a map, with directions in Apple Maps.
- The full Quran — all 114 surahs in Arabic with translations in seven languages, an optional Latin reading line, and Alafasy recitation that highlights each ayah as it is read.
- DUA AI — an assistant for religious questions, across several searchable conversations and with no account to create.
- Progress that carries — XP, daily streaks, reading and listening positions, and a short knowledge quiz attached to each prayer.
- Islamic calendar — the Hijri date, correctable by hand, alongside the year's holidays.
How it is built
Native SwiftUI for iOS 18.5+, built around observable state objects for prayer times, the Quran and progress. The prayer astronomy runs through adhan-swift, with every parameter — calculation method, madhab, high-latitude rule — set in one place.
As much as possible stays on the device. Settings, statistics, streaks, reading position and chat history are stored locally, with no accounts. Location, if you grant it, is used on the phone to find your city, compute the times and point the compass.
A few things necessarily leave. Quran text, translation and recitation stream from alquran.cloud and cdn.islamic.network. Assistant messages pass through a Cloudflare Worker that holds the OpenAI key server-side and enforces a daily limit per device. With your permission, asked before the first chat, your messages and your username, if you set one, go to OpenAI to answer you; the limit uses a random token created by the app. Mosque search goes to Apple Maps, around the city you chose.
The privacy stance
No accounts, no advertising, no analytics or tracking SDKs, and nothing sold or shared. A prayer app knows where you are and what you believe; the safest way to hold that is not to collect it.
